Hey guys!!

Hope you are doing well!

Today I am going to share with you my new book, the steps I took to write it and my experience. I just recently finished it and I thought you guys might like to take a look.

My book is about the Native Americans of North America. It is a non-fiction book so obviously I had to do lots, and lots of research.

Here are the first steps I took when writing my book.

What I did was do my research based on the chapter I was on. I would find a good article with lots of information, then read it a few times and see if it sounds trustworthy.  Then, I went ahead and made 3 columns in a word document. The first one is where I would put the quote I found from the article, then the second one is where I put the key words, then the third one is the paraphrase.

Here is an example:

Quote from articleKey wordsParaphrase
Little red riding hood goes to the forest with a box of cookies.
  • Little Red riding hood
  • Forest
  • Cookies

In the forest, little red riding hood went with a box of wonderful cookies.

After I was done with that, I would copy it and put it in my draft. Then, I would repeat it until the book is finished.

After the written draft stage is done, I would go ahead and look for:

  1. Spelling
  2. Punctuation
  3. Grammar
  4. Organization

Lastly, I would read through it one more time, maybe get an adult. Than make a google slides book/presentation.

The journey

If I may be honest, I had absolutely no experience writing a nonfiction book. I would always read Fantasy books like Harry potter and The Hobbit, so the inspiration part of it was very low. I really had to trust my instincts and glide through the book when I thought I was on the right track.

It turns out that writing a nonfiction book is really not that hard. To be honest, I learned so much. A great tip I learned for writing a book ( nonfiction) is that if someone asks you a question about that topic, you should know the answer right away. If not, do more research. That's really the extraordinary thing about writing a book. You never know what new path it will lead you to. It's always like a mystery.

In conclusion, Please write. Share your thoughts, write a book, write about something, just write. Write till your heart is lighter. Write till the end of time, I don't care. Just write because one word can change the world.

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post.
